Can I just express a bit of Castle-related frustration for a minute?

Apparently neither Castle nor Beckett (nor the writers for this show) remember that Esposito and Laney dated for some time(!) a couple seasons back, it wasn't a well-kept secret(!!) AND the only thing that ruined their relationship was the fact that they just didn't work out?(!!!) (That might not be exactly what happened but I do distinctly remember they weren't told not to date or something, SO MY POINT STILL STANDS)

So all this shit about keeping it on the down-low and dating other people without actually dating other people and worrying that it'll go KABOOM the second others find out about it? I AM NOT LIKING IT ONE BIT.
